Think of Your Plot: A good RP, starts with a good plot. You have to think of the storyline of your RP and what the basics of the RP should be. A good way to plan out your plot is to start with the simply and work your way up. First think of the the genre, then time era, etc. This will help you in creating the best plot for your RP. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help, if you know someone is good at plotting stuff just PM them and ask if they would be willing to help you out.
Give it Rules: Yes, good RP's have rules to follow. Big rules to include could be a character limit, typing limit (Lit, Semi Lit, novice) which would be for how long you wish their post to be, what you don't wish to see as far as language and such, and no Godmodding. Godmodding is basically making the character the best, like your character is the smartest, strongest, prettiest person. Setting down rules or notes will help make the RP fun for all and not just one person controlling everything.
The Character Chart: In all RP's you are given a character chart to write out your character making everyone else know what it is. These charts can be really simple (name, age, gender) to really complex (family, job, personality, history). The site ~Link~ , ~Link~ , and ~Link~ are three sites that will give you some ideas of what to put in your character chart. Also ~Link~ is a good one as well, each of them having different things you could add. Now, deciding how long your chart needs to be is all based on how much you think everyone needs to know about your/their characters. Base the length on what the RP is about and how detailed into the personal life of the character is will get.
Find RPers: Of course no RP is complete without people to join. A grat way to find out who will wish to join is to make a posting on the RP Recruitment forum with a short description of what ill be in the RP. You can even PM your friends you believe will be interested to make sure they see it as will. Doing this will allow your RP to already have people going to join before you even post it.
